Description
Available is a nice group of medals and insignia to a member of the United States Coast Guard who served in the 1970's. The group includes the following:1. A two place bar that includes the Coast Guard Achievement Medal and the National Defense Medal. The Achievement Medal has its original ribbon with an Operational Distinguished Service Device. The medal is officially named on the reverse to, "EDWARD D. DANCY/6 JUNE 1975" in a style that is pretty specific to the Coast Guard. The National Defense Medal is a nice strike from the Vietnam War period that has its original ribbon.
2. Expert Pistol Shot Medal. The medal is an early Vietnam period strike with a beautiful bronze finish. The medal comes on its original ribbon and unmarked crimp broach.
3. Expert Rifleman Medal. The medal is an early Vietnam period strike with a beautiful bronze finish. The medal comes on its original ribbon and unmarked crimp broach.
4. Clutch back miniature medal for the Coast Guard Achievement Medal.
5. Clutch back ribbon bar for the Coast Guard Achievement Medal with Operational Distinguished Service Device.
6. Two (2) lapel pins for the Coast Guard Achievement Medal.
7. Original blue clutch back name tag for wearing on a uniform. The tag reads, "DANCY/U.S. COAST GUARD".
8. Clutch back U.S. Coast Guard Honorable Discharge Pin.
9. Two (2) smaller Coast Guard buttons.
10. Original blue padded case for the Coast Guard Achievement Medal. The top of the case reads, "UNITED STATES/OF AMERICA". Removing the grey pad reveals the case was made by "THE MAUTNER COMPANY, INC.".
The group is in very good condition showing only light age from honest use.
Unfortunately, I don't have any research on Dancy. However, finding officially engraved groups to Coast Guardsmen is not easy.
