Shiebler Parcel-Gilt Art Nouveau Sterling Vase w/Contemorary Glass insert.

is a beautiful Shiebler Sterling silver vase holder that has a contemporary hand blown glass insert.  The sterling portion
both
the piece is 5.25 inches tall and is 6 inches in diameter. It retains is soft gilt butlers finish.  The
base
is composed of 3 overlapping lotus leaves from
which rise grasses and 3 lotus pods to hold the removable glass insert. Hidden amongst the grass is a snake visible in one of the pictures.  The base is in amazing condition for being 120 years old.  I had the glass insert made from a local nationally recognized artist who was kind enough to create a piece that is in keeping with the overall aesthetic.  He created the glass with wavy lines of soft gold that blends with the base and a soft iridescent blue that is evocative of water where the lotus would grow.  The glass insert is 9.5 inches tall and when place inside the bottom the total height of the piece is 11.5 inches tall. As you can see from the bottom the piece is clearly marked sterling was retailed by Bigalow and Kennard and made by Shiebler as style number 2831
As with any antique of this age there are bound to be some bits of usage wear.  I do my best to describe all pertinent issues.
