Antique Japanese Imari Celadon Square Plate Seiji-Sometsuke Peony Garden 19th CDETAILS OF ITEM
This piece measures 11.5 inches by 11.5 inches square and it is an antique Imari plate with celadon glaze accent. Called the Seiji Sometsuke, the decorative technique was originally created by Imari, Arita craftsmen around the years 1720 through 1750.
The technique is unique to Japan, unlike Chinese and Korean celadon pieces, this particular method aim to produce cooler and refreshing appeal to the piece especially when it is combined with dark blue Sometsuke patterns.
The condition is very good and its age is from the late Edo era (circa 1800-1850).
